Flora

Flora was born on this homestead. She was one of twins. As sometimes happens with animals, the other twin died shortly after birth despite our best efforts to save her.

Flora is a very strong, affectionate goat. She is a Nubian/LaMancha cross. This spring Flora kidded for the first time. She had two doelings, but rejected one who died shortly there after. The second kid was accidentally sufficated. Flora is our only goat milking without kids.

Last season in an accident while moving her from one stall to another one of her horns was broken off. There was arterial blood everywhere, but we managed to control it and she survived the incident.

I continue to work with her to overcome her instability issues resulting from the accident. She is doing well on the stand now, and is a good producer.

She loves the camera and will come right up to get her picture taken.
